2025 Spirit of 26
URSULA NILSSON
Peace Arch Chorus is pleased to honour Ursula Nilsson as Carole Poole Spirit of 26 Award recipient for 2025.
Ursula started her Sweet Adeline journey with Valley Echoes/Green Heart Chorus in 2010 singing baritone and serving on the Management Team as Treasurer.
She made the move to the PAC in 2014 as a baritone and soon became the Section Leader and always brings such an encouraging, positive and uplifting attitude to both the section practices and to every PAC rehearsal. She has supported our growing bari section well by recording separate bari tracks for learning especially when changes have been made.
Ursula has assumed many roles to enhance the behind the scenes of chorus life. She has accepted responsibility for recording and posting our music tracks and has been responsive to quick changes or needs that come up in that regard. She has also assisted Membership with keeping Guest Song books up to date. Ursula has turned our planning and coaching session goals into posters for our weekly reminder and inspiration with the help of her 9 year old, future baritone, daughter.
Currently Ursula is employed in Fraser Health as a Social Worker in Long Term Care. Her personal support of our dear friend/member, (beyond her work role) speaks to her kind, caring soul. Ursula also enjoys the outdoors; demonstrated by her gardening functions, camping, hiking, dog walking while being fully engaged in the PAC and motherhood.
Recently Ursula took on the challenge of baritone in a brand new quartet, TAXI and looks forward to her first competition in that capacity. In the words of Ursula, the PAC is a real source of joy and of using her brain, the chorus is her friends and family and it has increased her love and understanding of music. She does all she can as a full time employee and mom and is looking forward to when she can participate in more and join the Management Team.
Ursula is a true member of the Sweet Adeline Family.
